Should be required for anyone responsible for college completion rates

I haven't finished this book yet, but after reading two chapters as an assignment for class in my doctoral program, I immediately purchased it. This should be required reading for anyone that is responsible for improving graduation rates in higher education. This includes faculty, support staff, advisors, student affairs personnel, and especially the administrators that will set the agenda. I believe that once we accept a student into our school, it is our responsibility to provide every tool that student needs to be successful. We can not learn for them, but we can darn sure support them and make sure there are no roadblocks in the way of their success.

Specific and research based

As a community college educator, I read Vincent Tinto's latest book with great anticipation. I found the book engaging and informative. Mr. Tinto offers specific examples of programs and initiatives that work. I truly appreciated his use of research-- any community college professionals struggling with retention and student success should read this book for practical advice on what works.
