Terrible ebook

Don't buy this as an ebook unless you absolutely must. This is one of the sloppiest books for kindle that I have ever seen. The formatting makes it almost impossible to read. For instance, font sizes for the main text and special boxed items are radically different sizes so you have to keep zooming in and out to read text on the same page. Also, there are many paragraphs that have been broken up into two different styles when the text is in fact continuous. I'm shocked there was no quality control for this product.

Wonderful resource for a specialized audience

This book, or booklet, is a near-complete reference on indexing. It contains almost anything that a person who constructs indexes would want to know. It not only contains rules of indexing, but is rich with examples. The last chapter of the authoritative and well-respected Chicago Manual of Style, it lives up to the CMS's well-earned reputation. My only issue is with the price. At 57 pages, it costs about 40% of the price of the complete CMS which is 1042 pages long. Anyone who is writing indexes will likely be doing other types of editing as well and would probably benefit from owning the complete CMS which would be a far more economical purchase.

Excellent presentation of indexing, I would like to have had together with a chapter on footnotes and one on concordances. It is a bit difficult to magnify one single page on the iPad, but the font is quite legible. I have used the MLA Style Sheet for over thirty years and find no major conflict between the two Styles.
