Just when the Mexican Revolution had given Mexico an opportunity to reinvent itself, one of the most famous directors of the time, Sergei Einsentein came to this country to create and condensed an image of Mexico that will define its new identity inside and outside the country. With the help of Mexican artists and intellectuals that had already invented a Mexico, that although more rethorics than real , seem vivid and alive, he built images about our nation that will trespass time and space. Beautifully written, insightful and very well documented, In Excess is a fantastic book to understand those exciting years after the Revolution as well as the art movement that make this moment so precious in Mexican History.
